The Campaign organisation of Senator Iyiola Omisore, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Osun State has accused the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola of a clandestine plan to rope the aspirant in a phantom murder case.

The group in a release signed by the Director of Publicity and Strategy, Iyiola Omisore Organisation, Prince Diran Odeyemi, alleged that in a desperate bid to derail the August election, the governor has contracted a retired Commissioner of police who is reportedly assigned the task of framing up the false murder charge against Senator Omisore.

But, a media aide to Aregbesola and Director, Osun State Bureau of Communication Research and Information, Semiu Okanlawon, described the allegation as the figment of Omisore’s imagination, as the allegation was not true.

In his release, Odeyemi said, “this is to alert security agencies, the media and the public of a plot by the Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to cook up and implicate the leading governorship contender of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore in a phantom murder case in a desperate bid to derail the August election.”

“We have it on good authority that the state governor has contracted a retired Commissioner of police who is reportedly assigned the task of framing up the false murder charge against Senator Omisore. A false confessional statement is being cooked up around an incident at Okuku PDP meeting a year ago where a party supporter died.

“The plot is to raise the confessional statement as a basis to charge Senator Omisore to a magistrate court in May or June this year. We were told on good authority that the retired police Commissioner was briefed on the assignment late last year and he has started the clandestine assignment before we now got the full detail of the plot.

“It is on this note that we urge our supporters to be vigilant and beware of the antics of a drowning governor. Senator Omisore, a peace loving man has no hand in any murder or violence either now or in the past. His supporters are being  harassed on daily  basis with one killed at Ile Ife few  a days ago and several others injured across the state. Senator Omisore himself has been marked for assassination, all in a desperate bid by the governor to hold onto power when the people have rejected him.

However, Okanlawon, has tasked Omisore to name the retired Police Commissioner allegedly hired by the governor, “besides if someone has any murder case against him it will not be a case of the governor against him, but it will be the state versus the person,” Okanlawon argues.

“If Omisore has any case to answer anywhere let him go and face it, he shouldn’t drag the governor into it.

“Why will anybody rope him into any case, is he the only PDP aspirant, why is it that is it only him that is so jittery, if he has any case to answer let him go and answer it, he had better leave Governor Aregbesola out of it,” he said.
