Osun Guber Polls - APC, PDP Biker Over Plans to Cause Mayhem

Both the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the main opposition party in Osun State, the Peoples' Democratic Party ,PDP, have accused each other over alleged plans to create mayhem ahead of August governorship election in the state.
The APC in a petition addressed to the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar, said: "A crescendo of desperation has taken hold of Peoples Democratic Party in the state as, we hear, they have put in place plans to kidnap, and assassinate leaders of the APC in Osun state."
The petition signed by the state Chairman of the party, Mr. Adelowo Adebiyi also condemned the recent activities of one of the governorship aspirants of the PDP.
The APC added: "Reliable source within the PDP itself told us that we would be taking this piece of information with levity at our own peril; which is why we hurry to inform security agencies that we have one of the deadliest threats to peace in Osun since its creation."
"We do not intend to let off on our guards, and we are confident that the security agencies will also take seriously the alerts we have been given them in the last couple of months about the nefarious plans of the PDP which could inflame the state and possibly destroy democracy in the country."

PDP's allegation
The PDP in its allegation against the ruling party said: "Our attention has been drawn to orchestrated plan by Governor Rauf Aregbesola to unleash mayhem on those coming to witness the public declaration of Senator Iyiola Omisore slated for Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Freedom Park , Osogbo".
According to a statement by the PDP Director of publicity, Prince Diran Odeyemi; "The planned attack was rehearsed on Tuesday when All Progressives Congress, APC members attacked members of People's Democratic Party, PDP, who have converged at the party secretariat to witness the public declaration of one of the PDP gubernatorial aspirants, Hon. Wole Oke.

Information on thugs
"Information at our disposal indicated that thugs are being trained in different parts of the state by the ruling APC to cause major crisis in order to give Senator Omisore a bad name and portray him as a violent person.
