We won’t stop ‘stomach infrastructure’ after election –PDP
The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has said that it will not stop the distribution of rice and other household commodities to residents of the state even after the August 9 governorship election.
The Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Osun State, Mr. Bola Ajao said this in a telephone interview with our correspondent in Osogbo on Monday.
Ajao reacted to the allegation levelled against the PDP by the All Progressives Congress that the opposition party was distributing expired rice to induce voters.
He said that the PDP did not start taking care of residents because of the election, saying the party and its governorship candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore, had been assisting the people for a long time.
Ajao added that the opposition party had been taking care of the people and would not stop doing so even after the August poll.
According to him, the ruling APC had impoverished the people due to its anti-people policies.
He stated that the distribution of rice and other items was to identify with the people and to show that that the PDP cared about them.
He said, “Our rice distribution mechanism is not a matter of today. It is yesterday, today and tomorrow.
“ The PDP and Omisore are always there for the masses in Osun State. The latest poisoned rice theory coming from Osun State PDP is not only a ruse but wicked, malicious unfounded and diversionary. wicked.
“ PDP will not be deterred at any point in time to providing succor to the traumatised Osun citizenry no matter what they say or do.”
Ajao added that the APC which was the ruling party in the state should be prosecuted for giving out expired sachets of milk to unsuspecting people in the state.
The APC had claimed in a statement issued on Saturday that the PDP had loaded bags of expired rice which would be distributed to induce voters to vote for the PDP candidate.
The statemenet read, “ The All Progressives Congress has warned Osun people that the PDP has loaded trailers filled with thousands of bags of expired rice confiscated several months ago from smugglers.
“The expired bags of rice which is poisonous are being brought to Osun for distribution to voters.”
“Competent sources from the Customs have also revealed that concernment of those rice are unsuitable for human consumption. Osun citizens should therefore be warned that their lives are at risk from PDP poisoned rice.”
