Omisore ‘prayer’ squad in Onitsha pleads for peace

A group called Senator Iyiola Omisore Prayer Squad based in Onitsha, Anambra State has appealed to the police and army to ensure that peace reigned in Osun State during and after the governorship election in the state.
In a statement made available to the press on Monday, the prayer group, which said it was praying for peaceful election and victory of Omisore, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for August 9, 2014 Governorship election in Osun State said it has declared 14 days of fasting and prayers that will commence on July 23.
The group also called on churches, the Christian Association of Nigeria, the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, market and all professional bodies in the state to join hands in praying for the Senator to be elected governor.
The leader of the group, Pastor Gift Dikeogu who also addressed newsmen in Onitsha said they have been praying for God to reveal the best candidates to become the Governor of Osun State out of Peoples Democratic Party, All Progressives Congress, and Labour Party, the three popular parties in the South West since the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the date for the election, and God told them to pray for Omisore.
He said God told them that no incumbent governor will win a second term in any South West state for now, until He (God) finished the rebuilding work he is doing in South West with the crop of new politicians that are springing up in the states.
He said there will be no gathering of any sort for the fasting and prayers, so people should pray and fast in their respective homes in the country for the success of the election and subsequent enthronement of Omisore.
