Technology Critical to Africa's Development -
Aregbesola, Monarch
The paramount ruler of Ijesaland in
Osun State, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, has identified technology apart from
education as the major solution to the series of problems facing the continent
of Africa as a whole.
At the commissioning of a $50
million technology factory in Ilesa by the Osun State Governor, Rauf
Aregbesola, the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland noted that the setting up of the firm
in his domain would boost the economy of the area and reduce youth
unemployment.
While thanking God for choosing a
man like Aregbesola as the governor of the state, the monarch appealed to those
in charge of the company to ensure the sustenance and continuity of the project
to achieve the desired result.
Governor Aregbesola said the
project, which is in partnership with the state government, was a result of the
innovation of his administration to boost the economy of the state through
technology, adding that technology is an escape route out of poverty.
Named Adulawo Technology City, the
factory, which would create 10,000 jobs, has the capacity to produce 5,000
mobile phones and 500 computer sets daily.
The RLG- Adulawo Technology City,
which can also produce LED television sets and other devices, promises to be
one of the most productive assets in the state, creating employment and
revolutionising the industry through assemblage of electronic communication
devices.
