Federal Government has reiterated its determination to futher design life changing programmes for women and girls, as part of measures to harness their potentialities.
The Minister of Water Resources, Mrs Sarah Ochekpe, gave this assurance in Osogbo, at a  capacity building workshop for beneficiaries of girls and women initiative programmes in Nigeria .
Ochekpe, who noted that women had important roles to play in advancement of the nation, said that the ‘G win’ programme was aimed at opening access to life changing opportunities for girls and women in diverse endeavours.
The minister ,who was represented by the Director, Office of the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Daudu Daniel Machika, said in realisation of the  significance of water to women in  performance of their domestic duties ,hence ,the need to make women leaders in water management.
While urging participants to maximise their potentials, Ochekpe said the initiative would go a long way in generating employment for women.
She  said that the project would also alleviate the suffering of benefiting women as  public sanitation facilities would be managed by the women so as to enhance their economic status.
Speaking,  wife of Osun State governor and the Ambassador of Community -Led Total Sanitation (CLTS), Alhaja Serifat Aregbesola, said the intervention would aid the sustainability of zero tolerance for open defecation in the state.
Alhaja Aregbesola ,who lauded government for its initiative, submitted that the programme would serve as a means of revenue for women managing  water scheme and equally creating job opportunity, empowerment and alleviating poverty among the beneficiaries.
In her goodwill message, Osun State Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Mrs Mofolake Adegboyega, maintained that the project would have direct impact on benefiting communities through maintenance of improved hygiene practices in the rural communities.
 Adegboyega, who noted that women as agent of change and development, urged participants to ensure proper maintenance of the  facilities in their various communities.
The commissioner said the present administration in the state had trained 2,000 women in different vocational skills and trade.
In a remark, the Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Water Resources, Rural Development and Community Affairs, Mr kunle Ige, said the project would expose participants to water kiosk management and water scheme operation and maintenance, as well as training on community-led total sanitation facility maintenance and health education.

Ige urged women to take full advantage of the programme to enhance their standard of living.
Contributing, the Coordinator of the Workshop, Messrs African Theme Limited, Mrs Annabelle Adeyemi Johnson ,said the project was aimed at open ing window of opportunities for women in rural areas.
