Osun NUEE protests violation of agreement by FG



OSOGBO — Members of the National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, yesterday, staged a peaceful protest in Osogbo against alleged  violation of agreement between it and the Federal Government.
The trade union had therefore given a 14 days ultimatum within which the Federal Government should address the issue of alleged  human and trade union rights abuses in the power sector or face the wrath of the union.
Speaking with newsmen at the National Control Centre, Powerline area, Osogbo venue of the protest, the Osun State chairman of NUEE, Comrade Adedeji Olajire, who read the address of their National President, Mansir Musa, said all collective agreements entered into by the union with the government in the power sector, had been violated.
He added that over 10,000 workers in the sector have not been paid their severance entitlements.
According to him over 25,000 workers have not received their pension components while over 5,000 workers who retired statutorily were yet to be paid their gratuities, adding that the death benefit of over 1,000 workers who died in active service were yet to be paid to their families.
