Ekiti, Osun 2014 guber race: Aregbesola charges INEC on credible elections

Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, yesterday advised the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to be upright, credible and transparent in the forth coming 2014 gubernatorial elections in Ekiti and Osun states.
Aregbesola, who made the charge while speaking with journalists at the Government House in Osogbo, remarked that the commission should organise itself in such a way that it will be difficult to fault it in the management of the processes.
The governor pointed out that; “For INEC to be seen as credible, it should ensure that election materials are not given to people who cannot manage them, that the results as announced at the various centres are not influenced, that the results must be as they were at the polling units.
“People must be free during election period to exercise their franchise, from the voters’ register to the management of electoral materials, the process and procedure of voting and the ultimate declaration of results must be transparent that the most cynical and skeptical Nigerian will be satisfied.
“Once those essentials are met, then INEC will be out of blame. To guarantee security, the police and other agencies must ensure that nobody takes undue advantage manipulate the system or the process.” The governor stressed on credibility.
Speaking on his re-election bid, Aregbesola said “seeking a second term in office is the best way to pursue my objectives about governance, running the whole hug of the dictate of the constitution which will give enough time to meet my aspiration for the people.”
He continued; “If not for the people, I will not be seeking to return to office. However, before assuming office, I had purposed to run a people-oriented government that will give life abundantly to the people of Osun, and what I have done with governance has never been done in the state of the virtuous.
“We have done what most people claimed has never been done in the history of the state, we are so people-centred that it will be difficult for us to abandon the people midstream, he stated.
