2014 guber poll: Aregbesola is harbouring organised election riggers —PDP •‘Expect more litany of lies from PDP against the gov’

With accusations and counter accusations dogging the preparedness for Osun 2014 governorship poll, the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at the weekend, in Osogbo, accused Governor Rauf Aregbesola of allegedly harbouring organised election riggers, which he intended to use in perpetrating electoral fraud in the election.
The party contended that security agencies should rise up to the task of nipping in the bud discreet attempts by the All Progressives Congress(APC)-led administration of Aregbesola to subvert the will of the electorate through the use of various campaign groups, describing them as trained election riggers.
In a press statement signed by the publicity secretary of the PDP in Osun State, Prince Bola Ajao, a copy of which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune on Monday, the party said “the days of reckoning are at hand, all their deeds as well as misdeeds shall be subjected to the crucibles of public scrutiny.”

While recalling that some of these election riggers, numbering 180 met their waterloo on their way to perpetrate electoral malpractices in last year’s governorship election in Anambra State and currently facing prosecution, the PDP reiterated its call on the security agents to put the “Osun 180 and their allied organisations on the watch list more so that we have the Osun gubernatorial election around the corner.” The party also accused the governor of biting more than he can chew by budgeting to spend N216billion in this year’s  fiscal budget, wondering why Osun State’s budget should supersede Ondo, an oil producing state’s budget of N92billion, Enugu N93billion, Taraba N79billion for the same financial year, saying “this is unrealistic and not sustainable.”
But in a swift reaction, the Director, Bureau of Communication, Office of the Governor in Osun State, Mr Semiu Okanlawon  alerted the citizens to be ready for more lies from the PDP as the 2014 governorship election draws nearer.
He said the warning became necessary as it was obvious that the “sterling performance of Governor Rauf Aregbesola has boxed the opposition party into an unfortunate corner where they are left with nothing to offer the people of the state except to attempt to muddle up facts and confuse the people,” noting that “none of the several lies told since Aregbesola assumed office on November 27, 2010 has ever been substantiated till date.”
