NSCDC warns Osun politicians against violence

Commandant General, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ade Abolurin
The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr. Ade Abolurin, has warned governorship candidates in Osun State and their supporters against engaging in violent activities.
Abolurin gave this warning at a news conference in Osogbo on Friday after addressing officers and men of the Osun State Command.
He said officials of the NSCDC would be professional in discharging their duties and would not take side or work against the interest of any political party. Abolurin promised that the corps would deploy adequate security personnel to the state for the August 9 governorship election.
The NSCDC boss, however, declined to disclose the number of men to be deployed in the state but said a minimum of two officials of the corps would be deployed in each of the polling units in the state.
“My message to political parties and contestants is to shun violence. Don’t engage in any act contrary to the provisions of the law. Parents should not allow their children to be used as thugs. We want the people of Osun State to assist us to have a peaceful election,” he said.
