You can’t abort a baby that had already been born, Fayemi tells Mark

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has cautioned the senate President, Chief David Mark to stop playing politics with the issue of 11 defecting members of senate, saying the senators are free to join the party of their choice.
The senate president is yet to read the letter of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators who defected to All Progressive Congress
Fayemi made the statement  in reaction to the brouhaha dogging the defection of Senator Bukola Saraki and other ten Peoples Democratic Party senators on Thursday  at his country home, Isan Ekiti in Oye Local Government  while  participating  in the ongoing APC nationwide membership registration exercise.
He posited that the cries over alleged withholding of letters of some defecting Senators  by Senator Mark is immaterial, saying  the issue is a constitutional matter , “which cannot be personalized by anybody”.
“Senator Mark should believe that the defection of these  11 Senators from  PDP to APC is a statement of fact.  You can’t abort a baby that had already been born.
“Whether the senate President in his wisdom chose to  accept or reject the letter ,  is immaterial as far as this is concerned because they have started attending APC meeting. Some of them have even registered as APC ,members in this ongoing exercise.
“What  we are witnessing in the polity is a revolutionary process . Many have defected from other parties into APC and some are still defecting.  You will still witness more high profile defections , even in this State , but I won’t share it with you now”.
He commended members of his party  for  turning out in large number, saying “the reports  we are getting from  all the 16 Local Governments is encouraging. The mobilization drive is high and it has been yielding results”.
The governor called on APC members to continue to defend the integrity of the party and be vigilant at all times as election approaches in the State.
