Osun: APC plotting to eliminate our leaders –PDP

Osun: APC plotting to eliminate our leaders –PDP

• It’s a lie, replies party scribe

Ahead of the August 9 gubernatorial election in Osun State, the opposing parties have begun to engage in accusation and counter accusation.
The state chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) fired the first salvo when it raised an alarm that the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the state has allegedly hatched plan to eliminate some chieftains of PDP.
The state chairman of the party, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, who raised the alarm in a statement said “Governor Rauf Aregbesola, former Governor of Lagos State, Ahmed Bola Tinubu and their cohorts have allegedly devised plan to assassinate top notchers of the PDP in a bid to cause confusion and chaos in the state ahead of the election.”
But in a swift reaction APC faulted the allegation saying the PDP has actually become a problem to itself.
A statement signed by its Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Barrister Kunle Oyatomi, said that the party was confused and does not know what next to say.
According to him, “APC is not in a desperate position to warrant a desperate action. We are comfortable with our performance and we are absolutely sure that the people of Osun are also happy with what we have done.
“If anyone is desperate it is the PDP and all its aspirant who are in a state of desperation and panic because the more they look to see what is going on in Osun, the more hope disappears for them. So, in their consciousness, they are drawn to only one solution – violence as a means to recapture power.
“So, what they are saying is to set up the stage for thuggery, murder and violence as a means to achieving what is impossible for them through the ballot box. APC does not need violence with its own people. And the security forces should note.”
But the PDP insisted that “the ruling APC government has seen the hand writing on the wall that its days are numbered in Osun State, they have resorted to hatching plans of wiping out our leaders.”
The party then called on security agencies to be alert and give protection to the people.
