Osun APC alleges threat by PDP to eliminate members
Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised
alarm over alleged threat by the opposition party in the state, Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to eliminate some members of APC in
the state and also create mayhem by conducting registration of its
members on the same day the party chose for its registration.
APC in a petition addressed to the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubaakar, stated that “a crescendo of desperation has taken hold of PDP in the State as, we hear, they have put in place plans to kidnap, and assassinate leaders of the APC in Osun State.”The petition reads.
The petition signed by the state chairman of the party, Adelowo Adebiyi also condemned the recent activities of one of the governorship aspirants of the party.
The APC said “usually reliable source within the PDP itself told us that we would be taking this piece of information with levity at our own peril; which is why we hurry to inform security agencies that we have one of the deadliest threats to peace in Osun since its creation.”
The party added that “We do not intend to let off on our guards, and we are confident that the security agencies will also take seriously the alerts we have given them in the last couple of months about the nefarious plans of the PDP which could inflame the state and possibly destroy democracy in the country.”
The party in a separate petition addressed to the state commissioner of Police, Mrs. Dorothy Gimba and the State Director of the State Security Service, copy of which was made available to newsmen in Osogbo described all the planned activities of the PDP as attempts to cause mayhem and confusion in the state.
The petition reads further “We have it on good authority that the PDP plans to create mayhem in the state by conducting registration of its members on the same day in the same premises where the APC will be doing a similar exercise from the 5th to 10th of February, 2014.
“We like to draw your attention to the fact that the planned PDP exercise is an isolated case involving Osun state alone, which makes it suspect and patently dangerous. There is no way violent incidents will not occur at such massive clash of interest.
“Also, we have information that the PDP is planning a major confrontation with the governor’s regular walk to live exercise in a manner that will provoke serious violence and possible fatalities.”
