Ige’s family raises alarm over plot to impersonate family

The family of the slain former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Bola Ige, on Friday in Ibadan raised an alarm over alleged plot by a governorship aspirant in Osun State to drag the name of Ige’s family into his declaration, which will take place in Osogbo today.
According to a press statement signed on behalf of the Ige family by Mr. Akin Ige and Mrs. Funso Adegbola, and made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Friday, the family of the late politician declared that information has reached members of the family on the plan by the said governorship aspirant.
According to the statement, the plan is to bring “an impersonator, who will claim to be a member of the family, to speak at his campaign rally in Osogbo  this week and it was learnt that the impersonator will attempt to exculpate someone from being a suspect in the killing of our respected Patriarch, the justice of whose murder case is yet to be determined.”
The family, therefore, used the press statement to remind members of the general public, security agencies, and well meaning Nigerians, especially the good people of the state of Osun that the family has nothing to do with the campaign rally of the said governorship aspirant.
The statement reads in part: “We state here that there is no authentic member of the Ige family, be it from the nuclear or extended family, who will come out to aggravate the pains we still feel in our hearts over the murder of our dear father, uncle and relation, by speaking at a campaign rally.
“It will be sacrilegious to so do. We have been struggling for years since the gruesome murder to mitigate the pain by ensuring that the masterminds, and their cohorts, involved in the murder are brought to justice.
