PDP using Police to arrest our chieftains before election – APC

Osun State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised alarm over plots by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and the Police to begin clampdown on its members by implicating them ahead of the August 9th governorship election in the state.
A statement by the State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Sunday Akere claimed that a suspect, simply identified as Lawrence Dade, was arrested during the Ilesa rally of APC was whisked away to Abuja with the aim of implicating some chieftains of the APC who the PDP sees as a threat to their ambition in the state.
The statement maintained that the ploy was in the offing as it was done in 2007 so that the APC chieftains could be whisked away again.
According to the statement: “The People Democratic Party (PDP) is edging close to its alleged plan of arresting chieftains and members of the All Progressive Party (APC) in the State of Osun using the police and get them out of reach ahead of the fast approaching August 9 poll.
“It would be recalled that the PDP governorship candidate in the poll, Senator Iyiola Omisore had publicly boasted that the party would use the police to intimidate and harass chieftains and members of the APC to in the build up to the election to create apathy in the electorates.
“However, the PDP was waiting for an opportunity to strike but could not get one, hence, it started the campaign against state boys tagging them as violence group to create an impression that the APC used thugs at campaigns.
“The party first attempt to polarise the group was at Ede Mega Rally, where the PDP attempted to use some thugs dressed in APC polo shirt to infiltrate, with a view to causing chaos, but the infiltrator did not know that the group has a means of identifying each of its members, a situation that led to fighting between the APC and PDP in the town.
“Having failed in its plan to infiltrate the group, the PDP began unleashing terror on members of the group in Ife-South, Boluwaduro, Ife-Central, Ife-East but the attacks were resisted by the group, who were well prepared for the party’s style of intimidation.
